Independent Advisory Firm / Governance / Investigations / Compliance / Controls

Understanding how outcomes emerge.

Creed examines the relationship between facts, decisions, incentives, controls, conduct and institutional conditions to understand how outcomes emerge — and whether the resulting explanation withstands scrutiny.

01 / Point of View

Events rarely explain themselves.

An event is the visible end of a longer sequence. What preceded it — the decisions taken, the incentives in place, the controls relied upon, the conduct permitted — is where the explanation actually resides.

Creed looks past the isolated event toward the institutional conditions surrounding it, and asks a single disciplined question: does the account of what happened survive examination by someone who has reason to doubt it.

Method — observation before conclusion

02 / Practice Areas

Where the work begins.

01

Governance & Institutional Effectiveness

How authority is exercised, how decisions are recorded, and whether the structures an organization relies upon actually function under pressure.

02

Litigation Support & Investigations

Reconstructing what occurred from documents, data and testimony — and testing whether the resulting explanation withstands adversarial scrutiny.

03

Financial Crime Compliance

Programme design, testing and remediation examined against the conduct and incentives that determine whether controls are observed in practice.

04

SOX & Internal Controls

Control environments assessed for substance rather than documentation: what is relied upon, what is evidenced, and where the reliance breaks.

03 / Our Approach

Creed examines how these relationships produce outcomes — and whether the resulting explanation withstands scrutiny.

Institutional Conditions

The Myth of Neutral Automation

Smart contracts compress execution, but not responsibility. An examination of how programmable systems reshape sequencing, accountability, and governance when decisions are embedded in code.

Role  Founder / Principal

Christine Smith

Christine Smith is the Founder and Principal of Creed, with a background spanning governance, financial crime compliance, SOX and internal controls, and complex institutional matters. Her work examines how decisions, controls, incentives, and accountability shape outcomes — particularly where the formal record does not tell the whole story.

The firm was established on a narrow premise: an institution is better served by an accurate account of how an outcome emerged than by a reassuring one. Engagements are led personally, and conclusions are written by the person who examined the material.

07 / Engage

Some matters require a closer examination.

Creed looks past the isolated event toward the institutional conditions surrounding it, and asks a single disciplined question: does the account of what happened survive examination by someone who has reason to doubt it.
